Bye Bye July.. Hello August!
We’re Officially halfway through the summer. Before we know it we’ll be getting the kids their school supplies and enjoying our coffees at the bus stop.
For now though its summer and me and my alter ego Mama Kilsmith— and all our very talented friends have been busy busy busy!!
As of the time of writing this on August 4 - I have successfully completed 3 out of the 8 shows I have on the books this month. After this coming weekend I will have had 7 public shows in 10 days, plus the 3 care facilities I got to on Sundays.
You know what they say “Work hard and PLAY HARD!” Or something like that…
I took it kind of easy, in July, took the month off from Hosting Songwriters in the Round At WCUW. I had some fun in the Sun adventures with my family and got to work on some projects at home.
Our Family took a trip to Davis Farms. The baby, Robin was not happy in this picture… he wanted to stay in the splash park.
Tunes on the Dunes in Westerly Rhode Island, me and the kids had fun dancing barefoot to this phenomenal blues band!
We held Open Mic Night as usual at Timberyard on July 2nd. We had a “Teen Takeover” night. Through my promotional efforts I encouraged the youth in our area to take the stage and show off their talents. That was really fun!
Twin brothers take the stage!
Corey Knapp and his daughter.
Our Featured performer 12 year old Sydney. She recently had the honor of singing the National Anthem for a WooSox Game at Polar Park!
Some friends of mine came out to play music with their children. Our youngest guest on the stage was 4 years old, the little sister of our Featured performer Sydney who is just shy of 12 and is already singing in stadiums. Families playing together, huge local talent wrapped up in a “fun sized” package. It was a magical night!
My friend and Mama Kilsmith band-mate Sean Ryder and I have been starting to play publicly as a Duo - we are calling ourselves the Nosy Neighbors. We had fun perform together on July 3rd at Yummy Asian Cuisine in Palmer MA. We also had a show on July 26 at Janine’s Frostee in Ware MA.
As for the band - we played our second and third shows together. We played at Freeplay Arcade and Bar on July 24th and we had so much fun. They loved us and booked us another show for September.
Me and the guys - Sean Ryder, Fran Fazio, and Jerry Mckee
Post Show Selfie!
I will write a separate blog about that show, and the venue. It was SPECTACULAR!
To start the month of August we played a show in Enfield CT, at this cool restaurant called Wood N Tap. They had a gorgeous and cozy patio that almost made you feel like you were in a garden, big planters full of flowers, and an outdoor bar. We definitely would love to be invited back there.
Me The guys are just getting started, building momentum, and booking more shows. Stay tuned!
