Resume

Serena M. Kilsmith

Passionate, dedicated, ambitious and centered in a growth mindset.

I am a Passionate & Creative Professional…

“Whatever position I find myself in —as a long term professional or “hired-hand”, I give my full attention and effort to that mission — both physically and mentally.

I actually love to work. I take pride in my success and growth. I also enjoy helping others while they write their own success stories, and relish in being a part of a team working towards a common goal..

The history of my life and work deserves more detail than a one page one dimensional “Resume” or “CV”.

I am a multifaceted individual with wisdom and experience. My knowledge and unique skill set can make a difference wherever I work and for whomever I collaborate with.

I am an artist, an entrepreneur, a creative strategist… and a full time mother of three young children (ages 6 , 5 and 1.5 )

I have spent the last 6 years as a “Work-at-home-Mom”— sharpening my skills, managing a household, running my small business, while helping others grow and develop their own business strategies.

This Web-page is a full summary and overview of my attributes and the experience that I bring to the table. “ — S.M.K, August 2026

Education

Bachelor’s Of Science - Business Administration - Nichols College - Class of 2018

While working full time as the Mail Services Manager at Nichols College, I was fortunate enough to earn my bachelor’s degree through their employee tuition assistance program.

Here, the curriculum I focused on was Marketing and Human Resources.

Associates Degree - Liberal Arts - Quinsigamond Community College - Class of 2013

My studies here covered Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, literature and History.

Here I also began the required coursework for a bookkeeping certification. My studies included Beginner Accounting, Finance and Taxation courses. These applied towards the requirements of my bachelors degree in Business administration.

High School Diploma - David Prouty High School - Class of 2008

Other Noteworthy Accomplishments:

  • A Solo homeowner at the age of 26 - in 2015

The home I purchased was built sometime in the late 1700’s.

It was poorly maintained and desperately needed to be fully restored to its former glory. Over the course of three years I made small renovations on my own.

I learned how to repair and shingle a roof, I patched horsehair plaster walls with new plaster and join compound.

In the living areas I installed new vinyl flooring. Out side I landscaped the unkempt yard, removed trees, and overgrown bushes and vines, and planted gardens.

In 2018, I applied for an equity loan and I hired contractors. During this time, I left my job at Nichols College so I could devote myself fully to this renovation project.

The home received a full interior renovation, with a new bathroom, updated plumbing, wiring and light fixtures and appliances.

I kept the home as a rental property, and rented it to a relative for a year before selling the home in November of 2020.

  • Full-Time Student with Full-Time Employment : While attending college and working towards my Associates and Bachelors degrees I took evening session courses. so I could work a M-F job full time during the day- I also performed on weekends.

In those years, my early 20’s I started to do “gig work”. I did all sorts of odd-jobs for people. Babysitting, Dog Walking, Car Detailing, Yard cleanups, House Cleaning & Organization, Painting, you name it. I graduated with Two Degrees and very little debt.

My family’s Business — Commercial and Residential Tile and Flooring installation and Restoration

Beginning at the age of 12— I was expected play a role

n the family business.

At my mothers side, during tax season I learned about book keeping. We sorted and added up expenses. As I was learning about computers and software in school my parents often had me help with preparing invoices and estimates, creating marketing pamphlets, designing business cards etc.

My father was extremely busy, and often traveled far distances for work. Whenever he had projects going on closer to home, my mother would often bring us to help out on the job site. Cleaning up the worksite, taking measurements making cuts, pulling spacers and learning the basics of this trade.

When I was about 15 — I started to go on the road with my dad during school vacations and working on the commercial projects he often had going on . We completed many large jobs - gas stations and storefronts - we installed tens of thousands of square footage of tile.

When I was about 17 — once I acquired a drivers license I was given more responsibility to drive to locations along the east coast and manage a crew of 3-4 laborers.

At this time my father became a preferred contractor for Brinker international. Our main clientele were restaurant chains like Chilis, On the Border, Macaroni Grille etc.

We covered all of New England, New York, New Jersey, and as far South as Virginia and the Carolinas, restoring broken and missing quarry tile and refurbishing grout in these commercial kitchens. We worked 12 hour Shifts - 9 PM to 9 AM.

Until May of 2013 — I worked for my father’s business, whenever my school schedule allowed for it. This was a stipulation of being able to continuing living in my family home.

When I obtained my Associate’s degree, I left home and no longer worked for my father’s company.
